The Power of Observation
It’s funny how we can take the same walking route on a daily basis and then when we start to tune into more around us it can change the experience.
It can start to feel different. It is common to be in our own thoughts - worrying about the day ahead, be aware of sirens, honking etc. But then when we start to tune into people and nature around us the same route can be completely different. It can feel different.
The act of noticing and observing is fundamental in osteopathy. Through observation we are able to tune into the person, their body patterns and how they are living.
We use our hands to observe the subtle motions of the body rhythms and tissues such as fascia, cranial sacral system, viscera, bones, and joints. There is a constant shift in focus from local to global to local.
During treatment, observation is ongoing, we are feeling and observing what the response is locally but also globally. This dialogue becomes a dance and allows for a shift to occur in the body, such as a change in mobility, easing of tensions and greater overall regulation.
The power of observation has a transformative effect on body.
